Our Core Values: A Return to Basics

At Taongafarmacy, everything we do is guided by six core values. These are not marketing language. They are the principles we live and work by, every single day.

1. Return to Basics

We believe in the power of simple, time-tested methods. Growing your own food, knowing where your fibre comes from, and understanding the land beneath your feet. The answers to many of our modern problems are not new — they are old, and they work.

2. Guardianship

The land is not ours to own — it is ours to protect. We farm with the next generation in mind, restoring rather than depleting. We have 800 acres of mostly steep hill country with around 50% effective for grazing, approximately 40 hectares of flat land with a gravity-fed irrigation system and some excellent soil. We hold this land in trust for those who come after us.

3. Community

No one heals alone. We build networks of people who share skills, resources, and a commitment to living well without harm. The Taongafarmacy Collective is an umbrella for like-minded growers, makers, and healers across New Zealand.

4. Poison-Free Living

From the food we grow to the products we make, we are committed to removing toxins from our land, our homes, and our bodies. Antibiotic-resistant microbes are predicted to become the leading cause of death. Herbs work. Clean food works. We are committed to spreading this message.

5. Heritage Skills

Felting, tanning, fermenting, bread-making — the skills our grandparents knew are the skills we need again. We teach them with pride. These are high-labour, low-skill activities that reconnect us with the materials and processes that sustained previous generations.

6. Honest Trade

Every product in our collective is made with integrity. We know the maker, the method, and the materials. Nothing hidden, nothing harmful.
